And we took off again
Mid September, the new school year and work year has been launched. The trains get crowded again, the traffic gets jammed, people go to the office again (now and then).
I read in a newspaper article that it is no longer January that heralds a new start, with good intentions and a lot of enthusiasm. It is the magical month of September, which gives the go-ahead for many of something new, something unknown that we eagerly look forward to, or perhaps look away from with a small heart.
“You have to learn to let go”
I really dislike that comment. And at the same time I have to confess there is some truth in it. The trick is to be able to let go of the relevant, that which is not supportive and stimulating, and to preserve that which gives strength and energy to a new start. But that distinction in itself is often quite a search. A search that can be accompanied by ambiguity, chaos, uncertainty. But it can also be expectant and exciting.
“Not in his goals but in his transitions man is great.” (Ralph Waldo Emerson)
Do we take or get the time to make that quest?
How long does the intermediate phase last? And is there an ideal moment for a new start?
Much depends on the resilience you (still) have and on the response and support of those around you.
And meanwhile “in between”?
I dare to move into the space of chaos, uncertainty, grief,
I allow myself to dwell in the past for a while
I seek the exchange of thoughts and the comfort of intense connections
And at the same time I feel the tension of what is waiting behind the corner…
So a fresh start after all? ;-)
